Does Epoxy Grout Make a Shower Waterproof?
Epoxy grout provides a highly water-resistant barrier at the tiled surface and helps prevent water from passing through the grout lines and getting underneath the tiles. Properly maintained silicone also helps seal corners, joints and other vulnerable areas.
However, epoxy regrouting does not repair or replace the waterproofing membrane underneath the tiles.
If the existing membrane is damaged, regrouting with epoxy will not fix that damaged membrane. What epoxy grout can do is provide a much stronger, longer-lasting and more water-resistant surface than standard cement grout, helping reduce water penetration through the grout joints.
